User Interface Enhancements

The Dynamics 365 user interface continues to evolve, putting efficient, simple-to-use features right at your fingertips.

Views & Subgrids Update

You can easily select records in Views and Subgrids using the circle to the left of a record's name. Rows are also more defined with horizontal lines between records.

Modifying Columns in a View

You can now modify and edit columns directly from a view.

1. Select a view.

2. Select the Column Editor icon

3. Use the Edit Columns pane to add, remove, or rearrange columns in the view. You can also drag and drop the column names to rearrange their order directly in the view. An asterisk will appear next to the name of the view to indicate that changes have been made. These changes are not permanent and will not persist if you navigate away from the view.

Set Default Views

Previously, the pin icon was used to set the default view for an entity. This icon has been removed, and you will now use the Set current view as my default option.

1. Select a view.

2. Select the dropdown arrow next to the view name.

3. Select Set current view as my default at the bottom of the view selector.

Modifying Columns in a Sub-Grid

You can rearrange the columns in a subgrid using the Move options or drag and drop.

1. Select the dropdown arrow next to a column name.

2. Use the Move Right and Move Left options to rearrange the column order. You can also drag and drop the column names to rearrange them.

Open Record in New Window

The Open Record in New Window option is now located in the ribbon bar of a record.

Record Status

The status of a record is shown next to the record name. While updating a record, the status will show as Unsaved. Once changes to a record are saved, the status will show as Saved

Enhanced Sitemap

Administrators now have the ability to collapse and expand various sections in the sitemap using the Modern App Designer.

New and Improved Features

Updated Mass Edit Experience

Editing records now has a more consistent experience. You can easily select one, or multiple, records from the grid to edit and make the same changes to all the records you have chosen. For example, if you want to adjust the Relationship Manager on three records, you can pick the three records and update the Relationship Manager on all the chosen records.

1. Select the record(s) to edit.

2. Select Edit from the ribbon bar.

3. Optional if there are multiple forms: Select the appropriate form from the form selector

4. Make your edits.

5. Click Save

Updated Share Records Experience

Sharing records now has a more consistent experience.

1. Select the record(s) to share.

2. Select Share from the ribbon bar.

3. Search for the correct user or team to share the record(s) with.

4. Assign the correct sharing permissions.

Collaboration with Microsoft Teams

Microsoft is working to improve the integration with Microsoft Teams.

Recently added features include:

  • Send automated chat notifications from Engage to Microsoft Teams
  • Get notifications for records that you're following
  • Control which notifications you receive and how often you receive them
  • Create an appointment in Engage and add a Teams meeting link to the appointment
  • Access and edit Engage records from within Microsoft Teams

Deal Manager Workspace

Still in Preview: The Deal Manager Workspace is designed to serve as your Sales Dashboard. It has everything you need to manage your current and past opportunities. Track opportunities using lists and charts, and review and update opportunities all in one place.

1. You have three options for how to view data in the Deal Manager Workspace: Combo, Lists, and Edit Metrics

  • Combo: Shows a combination view of a chart and a list of opportunities.
  • Lists: Shows a list of opportunities with no charts.
  • Edit Metrics: Allows you to choose the fields to display.

2. You have two experiences to view in the Combo Workspace: Deal Tracker and Sales Funnel.

3. A tooltip displays whenever you hover your mouse over one of the bubbles in a chart.

4. View a list of opportunities. Change the opportunity view at the top of the page to display a new list of opportunity records.

5. Once an opportunity is selected, an Opportunity Pane with opportunity details will open on the right side of the screen. You can review and update opportunity details from here.

In-App Notification for Model-Driven Apps

This new in-app notification feature allows you to create notifications that will show in the browser. Users can be alerted to key items, such as when a record is created or updated. In-app notifications are shown to users as a notification or in the notification center. Notifications are directed to a specific user and can be sent through external systems, Power Automate, or from within the system. Your System Administrator needs to opt into this feature to make the notifications appear for users.

Categorized Search Deprecated

Categorized search is no longer available, and relevance search is switched on automatically. Take a look at this article for more information on dataverse search

Classic Edge and Internet Explorer Blocked

Internet Explorer and the classic Edge browsers cannot be used to access the Unified Interface apps. Make sure your browsers are up to date!
